Here we take a pictorial look back at some of the events we managed during 2011.
Some photographs from the Art Exhibition including some of the artists and a selection of their works which were amazing. There are some incredibly talented people here and this exhibition proved just how good they are. Different styles but all to a very high standard.
Thanks to everyone who came especially the artists.
Black & White Ball
We had a great Evening! The Black and White Ball at Elea was perfect. Great food as always, excellent service, fantastic singers and good company. Couldn’t ask for more. Well done Chef John Kouphou, Anita Koutoulla and all the staff for making it so good and to everyone who came.
Our Christmas Craft Fair at Kamares Club on Saturday 12th November was another big success with almost 50 stalls inside and out which brought in nearly 1000 visitors. Unfortunately we had a big storm very late in the afternoon but managed to get nearly everyone inside in the dry. Santa Claus turned up to surprise the children and some of the adults took the opportunity to have a quiet word in his ear. We also raised 550 Euros for St Michaels Hospice, Paphos. Thanks to all our helpers and crafters for making it so good!
In Any Event’s second Wedding Fair at the Coral Beach Hotel and Resort at Coral Bay on Sunday 30th October proved to be a big success with exhibitors and visitors alike. In excess of twelve hundred people visited the exhibition and viewed over forty different stands and two fashion shows during the day.
Exhibitors included companies from Nicosia, Larnaca, Limassol and Paphos specialising in all aspects of a wedding such as make up, hairdressing, car hire, entertainers, florists, jewellery, photography, hats, balloons, cakes and of course bridal wear and dresses.
‘Weddings are such an important event and we managed to bring together some of the best wedding specialists in Cyprus to showcase their products. The visitor numbers prove how popular the event has become and we are delighted with the feedback we have received. The stands were amazing and everyone had a busy but enjoyable day with one lucky person, Maria Theofanous, wining a 500 Euro diamond voucher donated by Kimberley Diamonds.’
Our Schools’ Out Night at DT’S was another great success. Everyone dressed for school which made a fantastic party atmosphere. The Chef prepared a meal which was 100 times better than a school dinner, loads of fun games and then dancing to end the evening. It was great fun and maybe this will become an annual event. Everyone wanted to know when the next one will be so I guess we just might have to do it all again!!
Music Open Pafos
‘We were asked to help promote the Music Open Pafos festival which featured the top young Russian Opera Singers. They were amazing! A great three nights and we are looking forward to doing it all again. If you missed it make sure you get tickets for the next festival’
Art Exhibition Gustoso
Works from Mike Gorman, Barbara Maddox, Jonathen Hollowell, Lisa Antell, Marcia Worth and other local artists were on display and available to purchase. Gustoso Restaurant on the Tomb of the Kings Road was a superb venue for a small art exhibition. The white walls and traditional stonework of the building gave a light and welcoming atmosphere. Russian Opera Tenor Eugeniy Juzhin visited the art exhibition and gave everyone a short preview of what to expect at Music Open Pafos.
Royal Ascot Ladies Day“I’d like to take this opportunity to say WELL DONE!, we all had a FANTASTIC time at “Ascot”, you did so well with your organising and staging a great event and everyone clearly enjoyed the day!, we loved The Royal Wedding and Ascot was even better!, congratulations to all involved.”
We decided to have a Royal Ascot Ladies Day here in Cyprus and thought Elea Golf Club was the place to do it. Brilliant day with Pimms and canapés on arrival, superb buffet lunch, strawberries and champagne, jazz band and a tote to accompany the live racing on the big screen direct from Royal Ascot! When the racing was over the dancing started. Over 140 people came and it was a great day out with the ladies dressed to thrill. We have never seen so many hats in Cyprus but a good excuse to get dressed up Ascot style!! . Next year? Of course.
The Dance Collection
Acclaimed Norwegian artist Frode Sandal held an exhibition of his latest works at The Gallery Restaurant, Tala. The new pieces, called ‘The Dance Collection’ were accompanied by some of his other individually selected works. Organised by ‘In Any Event’ the exhibition opens with the artist on site to discuss the new collection with visitors and the media.
Oslo born Frode has sold his work throughout Scandinavia, mainland Europe and America but this was his first exhibition in Cyprus. Such is his talent that during his early years lecturers actually bought and commissioned his work. Although equally at home with sculpting he has for the past five years concentrated on experimenting with paints but now mainly uses acrylic.
The Royal Wedding
The Royal Wedding was celebrated in style at our event in DT’S Bar on the Tombs of the Kings Road Paphos. About 150 people joined us to watch the wedding of the year and celebrate the occasion in traditional style. The bar was full to capacity for the wedding which was at 1pm local time with guests enjoying a glass of bubbly before settling to watch Prince William marry Catherine Middleton.
The Easter Bazaar at The Coral Beach Hotel and Resort on Saturday 23rd April brought hundreds of visitors to the hotel and also helped a local charity. The event, organised by Paphos based ‘In Any Event’, had almost fifty stalls with a wide range of items on sale including jewellery, painted glassware, candles and art works.
Visiting children enjoyed an Easter Egg Hunt along with a visit from the Easter Bunny, face painting and a ‘hands on’ art section in the entertainment area. A charity raffle was held during the day which raised over 350 Euros for the Friends Hospice, Paphos.
PAPHOS WEDDING FAIR – A GREAT SUCCESS
The Wedding Fair at the Leptos Calypso Coral Beach Hotel and Resort at Coral Bay on Sunday 27th February proved to be a big success. The Fair, brought wedding companies and associated businesses together to showcase their products and services and meet potential clients and Brides to Be.
A wide range of exhibitors included beauticians, hairdressers, car hire companies, entertainers, florists, jewellers, photographers, cakes and of course bridal wear. The day concluded with a superb fashion show in the main hall with most of the exhibitors contributing to the forty five minute event in which local girls modelled the dresses.
Beverley Houghton-Brown and Anita Hopkins said ‘The Coral Beach Hotel is an excellent venue for a Wedding Fair and, of course, a wedding. Weddings are such an important event, particularly here in Cyprus so it seemed fitting to choose the hotel as they have such experience in hosting major events. The feedback from the exhibitors and visitors has been very positive and we are now negotiating for a second Fair, hopefully towards the end of this year or early next year. The response has been wonderful and we will make it a permanent fixture in our calendar of events’.
Throughout the day there was constant stream of visitors who enjoyed live music from local musicians on their arrival, including Blue Jar who played a selection of classical music. In addition a prize draw was held the lucky winner, Ryan Currie walking away with a five hundred Euro voucher from Kimberley Polished Diamonds who were exhibiting at the fair. The organizers said, ‘It was important for everyone to enjoy the day and get some valuable information from the exhibition. Organising a wedding is time consuming and we wanted the fair to eliminate some of that time for the brides who are in the midst of planning their big day. With over 1000 visitors through the door it proved to be a success and it was very pleasing for us because a number of people have already spoken to us and put their names down for the next fair, which we think will be even bigger’.
During January & February In Any Event organised Ladies Afternoon, held at various locations throughout Paphos. They were a great success with ladies from all over Paphos enjoying a Harrods style afternoon tea followed by a talks on a variety of subjects. We are planning a further series of Ladies afternoons in the spring.
